Alright, let’s talk beer – from amber ales and IPAs to porters and pilsners, there’s plenty on tap to choose from. Many of their brews have been regulars since the brewery opened, Don’t miss their Strawberry Blonde Ale – a local favorite, brewed with fresh Oregon strawberries.

This brewery brings even more to the table than just beer and ambience – the burgers and comfort food they serve up here are out of this world. I highly recommend the Cherry Bomb pizza – pepperoni, pickled cherry peppers, and a drizzle of hot honey make it the perfect sweet-yet-savory pie. As a New Yorker, I can assure you that Fort George pizza really hits the spot!

Fort George Downstairs

Downstairs is home to the public house, and outdoor seating area, which has biergarten-y vibes. You can grab a seat at the bar, a booth, high top table, or outdoor picnic table. Order up a burger and some fries to go with your pint – the downstairs food menu does not disappoint. If you’re in a particularly decadent mood, try the Dirty Fries, complete with pork belly, peppers, and chipotle mayo.

Lovell Taproom

Fort George created a taproom in Astoria’s historic Lovell Auto Building. Here, you can catch live music, and lectures on topics like “Shakespeare & Shipwrecks,” “Orcas of the Oregon Coast,” and local history. Buoy offers a wide variety of beers, including a rotating selection – their latest and greatest is a malty-sweet Italian Pilsner. You can’t go wrong with their original, hoppy Northwest Red Ale. My personal favorite is their Cream Ale – crisp and semi-sweet, it’s the perfect summer sipper.

If you’re the type who likes to crack a cold one after a run, you’re in luck. Each May, Buoy hosts Astoria’s “Run on the River” race. Lace up your running shoes and hit the Riverwalk for a 5k, 10k, or half marathon – followed by well-earned beers at the finish line! Lunch, beer, a race shirt, and finisher’s medal are all included with registration. I ran this race in 2022 with my dad when I first moved here, and it was a great way to get to know the community!

Obelisk Beer Co

Meet Obelisk Beer Co – Astoria’s newest brewery located in a 72 year old warehouse downtown. With its diverse tap list ranging from double hazy IPAs and a vanilla stout to a pilsner and Kolsch-inspired brew, there’s something new for everyone to try here. Obelisk Beer Co is rapidly becoming a local favorite – so grab a barstool or a table and be part of this new brewery’s early story!

Hondo’s Brew Pub & Tap Room

Hondo’s might be the most unique watering hole among Astoria breweries. A brew pub, taproom, and homebrew supply store all in one, Hondo’s is the whole package when it comes to beer. Whether you come visit for a pint of local beer, a classic sandwich, or to start your own home brewery, you’re sure to leave satisfied.

Hondo’s brews are canine themed, with names like Daschund Dunkelweizen, K-9 Kolsch, Clifford the Big Redd Dog IPA, and more. Rogue Pier 39 Public House

One of the most well-known Oregon Coast breweries, Rogue has 6 pubs in Oregon. Though (imho), its Astoria location inside the old Bumble Bee Tuna Cannery is the most scenic.

Reach Break Brewing was all about local vibes and the people who call the PNW home. Their indoor taproom and bold brews brought people together seven days a week. Reach Break hosted food trucks like Coastal Smash and Wahoo Charlie’s, and was home to a covered patio with outdoor seating where you could enjoy a handcrafted beer with your local eats, Reach Break’s extensive tap list was largely their own, like their Scandinavian Pilsner and delightfully fruity Blackberry Ringer Ale.

Fortune & Glory Cider Company

NOTE: Unfortunately, Fortune & Glory Cider Company closed its doors in early 2024. BUT the good news is…you’ll likely still be able to order their ciders at Galactix, an arcade bar in downtown Astoria, for some time to come.

In addition to all these fine Astoria breweries, Fortune & Glory offered something a little different (but still extremely list-worthy) – the town’s one and only cidery, Fortune & Glory Cider Company! Originally known as Reveille Ciderworks, they rebranded and reopened in an annex of local favorite Fort George Brewery.
