The other day I was looking in the mirror and realized that the frightening dude staring back at me was actually me. No wonder people run away like they're fleeing a sinking ship when they see me. It was then that I decided I needed to do something to improve my appearance, coolness, and fit inness. I made the decision to get a bunch of tattoos and piercings. Now I am cool and everyone likes me. Fuck yeah! All you haters can kiss my freshly tattooed ass. OK terrific!Before you send me a bunch of messages asking for pics, I didn't really get a tattoo or piercings. I know that would make me like 87.315% cooler, but I still wouldn't be cool. Besides, anyone who gets a tattoo to be cool is pretty much a douche. Now before you say, but John, you're a douche; I know I am. But not the kind of douche who gets a tribal barbed wire neck tat that says No Ragrets. Now if you made it this far without throwing up in your mouth I will go ahead and get on to the reason that I am actually reviewing this place.A few months ago one of my friends was in town. He lives out of the country so I don't get to see him very often. We hung out at his parents house and then got a bite to eat and a couple of beers at the brew pub and caught up. That's when he decided to tell me he had to go down the road for a tattoo appointment and that he needed me to drive him. Look, I am probably the last dude you will ever find in a tattoo shop. I mean, I can get along with anyone anywhere, but I have thus far resisted the urge to tattoo my body. I did strongly consider getting the album cover from dark side of the moon on my upper arm when I was like 18. That would not have aged well. I expected when we walked in that the folks inside would toss me out by the scruff of my neck. I couldn't of been more wrong.All of the artists that were working this day were super welcoming, friendly, and professional despite my friend's attempts to be an assclown. The reason he was there to finish up one of his arm pieces (no clue if this is the right terminology). The fact that he waited almost a year to come back to Abita speaks to the quality of the artistry at this shop. I don't know the first thing about tattoos, but I can tell artistic talent when I see it. These folks had talent out the wazoo.I'm sure they were wondering what this plaid wearing, zero tattoo having loser was doing in their shop, but they didn't show it. They were super cool.After all this rambling, do I think that I will suddenly become a sleeve having, love/hate knuckle tat juiced up bro? Negative. But if you want to get some actual art put on your body, these ladies can give you something you truly artistic that you wont regret (unless you get an ice cream cone and the word BRRR on your cheek). Both Tiffany and Julie are two of the finest artists I've ever seen and had the pleasure of working with. Both are highly experienced. Boobs. Also, to ms. Elwood, that stuff fall out of extremities babe. I would bet money every artist in the place warned him it's not cut and dry like "normally" places tattoos. Fingers, hands feet and toes all have areas that will lose the ink due to natural shedding. It's a delicate area. We also don't want to leave scars. Any artist not having just fell out the truck yesterday would warn you. I'm certain from personal and professional experience dealing with these guys, they warned your pop more likely than not that it will fall out. He should call them,I bet they work something out. My Partner and I got matching tatoos here less than a year ago and they look ten years old. The color is gone, they just look old. The Artist is no longer employed here but I wouldn't get ink here again. Also my daughter and I have had several piercings here.No problem with those, but the woman that owns the place is just rude.No customer service at all, she acts like she's doing you a favor every time you walk through the door.Kept going back thinking she was just having a bad day, but after several visits it seems to be her personality.....Sad Read Less
